About Me

SecondLife
Caralyne Melody rezzed into SL in October 2009 and spent most of the next two years enjoying its fantastic culture and fashion. She developed her SL skills as a store, print, and runway model, choreographing virtual poses and animations, blogging, taking in world photos using windlights and shadows, editing photos using graphic software, and creating shapes, skins, and clothing. She has earned model credentials and participated in various castings, contests, and stylings. Relaxing in RL for Caralyne is having fun with fashion in SL.

UCWS Sat Oct 13

October 13, 2012

Class Notes:
Class was with Tiffani today at 7 pm slt; after all the festivities for the day were over.  She went over default/cue poses and the differences between personal and mandatory poses used by CWS.  The poses used for Beach and Dome formations as well as those used for the other runways in CWS fashion shows are mandatory and not to be used as personal poses elsewhere.  Daily styling is for using our own personal poses and the sequences we create to show our style.  The default stand should look natural as you move to and from it using your selected walk.  Once again, no poses on the runway should be static (jerky) poses.  Remember, poses should look natural and not cause your hands to move through your body or clothing, show parts of the body you would not show on the runway in RL, and put your body in positions that you could not sustain or likely not perform on the runway in RL, like standing with one leg raised high.  Even standing on one foot is questionable.

After the discussion of poses, Tiff made sure we all had our Dome poses loaded in Huddles and helped whoever still needed help with getting their poses loaded.  Then, we practiced the Dome formation WITH posing.  We each took tooks on the different runways, driving each other, following the driver, and learning how to wait and pose with the model when she was in the center.  It was so much fun and the time always flies when we are practicing formations.  I love walking the runway so much!  :))

Class Outfit:
Ok, so today's outfit was for the fashion show.  It has a cocktail flavor with its black and white and frills, but it is also has a Saturday playfulness with its skinny belt and romper style.  I didn't realize how much attention it would draw, but it did.  I felt fabulous and unique in it and for me, that is important!  It's an Anubis promotional oufit on marketplace and an unbelievable steal at 10L.  Wow!  I am not sure I have felt so pertty for so little.  :))

Class Tour:
So, let's go see the student styling stage from backstage.  This is where we begin our walk and this is what we see.  We watch the model ahead of us as she walks through her style, noting which side she goes to when she is done.  This is important to watch, because if you don't, too many models end up on one side or the other of the runway.  This usually happens in daily styling because new stylists forget to pay attention to which way the model ahead of them went... Well, no matter, just another learning step on the road to becoming a good model.

In the past, I have often used the student styling backstage to prepare for daily styling to practice the walk, poses and delivering the description.  I always feel so much better about walking the real thing if I have practiced at UCWS!  What am I going to do when I graduate?  LOL... oh no!
