Finals Prep:
I selected 10 am slt 10/28 for my finals and sent a notecard to Laylah. Time to check the new store out and pick an outfit.  LOL!  (I knew I wouldn't be able to pick just one.)  When I got there, I purchased 5 "fall" type outfits and began the process of deciding which one to wear.  It was not easy because the mesh detail of some of the outfits was not very strong.  Finally, I chose the sweater + high waist pants combination in black.  Laylah had asked us to accessorize and this was the best outfit to use as a canvas.  My final results incorporated a mesh corset, ankle boots, a gorgeous texture changing neck scarf, and a hair bow.  I took a picture of the final result next to the vendor picture of the main outfit.  Quite a difference!

The store is U.Refined and the designer is Rita Hazelnut.  It appears she is a fairly new vendor after I checked out her main store.  The store at CWS Fashion District is nicely laid out and not crowded.  The vendor images were easy to see and understand.

Finals Fall Style:
And here are some poses from my style.  I really love how the outfit turned out.  I prefer simple and sometimes forgo even wearing jewelry, but this one seems to be okay with the extras.  I love the black, white and red combination and often choose it in my daily SL clothing.  As you can see I gravitated toward my personal favorite with the zebra print I adore thrown in for accent.  When I look at it, I see a mixture of styles, ranging from 80's Madonna to different textures, clothing pieces, and clolors of Vivienne Westwood to a clean, classic elegance.  I even tried different shoes to evoke more of a Vivienne Westwood feel, but couldn't find any better than the cute 80's style ankle boots.  Images of Vivienne W. evoke the 80's with her orange hair and vivid colors that Cyndi Lauper styled in her first awesome video, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

Finals Fall Description:
Hello & Welcome to today's Finals styling in Fall theme.  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, Simply The Best.

My fall style begins with a U.Refined sweater and leggings outfit in black.  The top has a lovely lace inset at the neck and over the cleavage.  It is long-sleeved, befitting the onset of cool weather.  To set off the basic black canvas of pants and top, I added a red mesh corset with a black bow cinching the waist.  To continue wit the eye-popping red, I added red ankle boots reminiscent of the 80s.  Jewelry did not seem to fit with the styling, so instead I turned to a long retro neck scarf with a zebra print and red fringe.  And finally, as the cherry on the sundae, I added a red hair bow.  I really love how the outfit turned out.  I love the black, white and red combination and often choose it in my daily SL clothing.

As you can see I gravitated toward my favorite red with the zebra print I adore thrown in for accent.  When I look at it, I see a mixture of styles, ranging from 80's Madonna to different textures, clothing pieces, and clolors of Vivienne Westwood to a clean, classic elegance.

Thank you to everyone for coming to the show and many thanks to our judge, announcer, and most of all to Anrol & Steve who make it possible for us to share our styling creativity in this wonderful venue.  When you have a moment and enjoy reading about SL fashion, please check out my blog at http://caralynemelody.blogspot.com/.

Finals:
Finals is such an anti-climax.  Once you make it past midterms, its is really home-free. And I always feel melancholy when classes are over.  Although busy in RL, I love being busy in SL too.  Classes everyday were so satisfying.  Hmm... I will have to consider the advanced class and the Doctorate.

Lizzy and I were scheduled for finals at the same time.  Laylah had Lizzy do styling first with Beach and Dome compulsory poses after.  Lizzy was released and it was my turn.  I did my styling and compulsory as Laylah instructed.  And then we talked a bit about how awesome CWS is and how I won't be wandering far this time.  It's home after all.  :))

SHORT :::

Caralyne Melody rezzed into SL in October 2009 and spent most of the next two years enjoying its fantastic culture and fashion.  Being fashion conscious, she was very aware of SL models and admired their beauty and creativity with the idea of becoming one "some day".  Finally, she responded to a model call at her favorite store, LoveCats; where she is now a model and assistant manager.  Her good friend, Sweetyuna Wendel, re-introduced her to CWS and begged her to take classes to become a runway model.  With her good friend's support, Cara joined International Model contest, became a student at UCWS, and has particpated in and even won some of the recent evening stylings.  She is looking forward to graduation and participating in runway fashion shows at CWS.  Thank you to Anrol, Steve, and all the trainers for making it possible and her friend, Yuna, who knew she could do it.  Yay!

LONG :::
Caralyne Melody rezzed into SL in October 2009 and spent the next two years improving herself by learning about SL fashion, culture, shaping, photography, and modeling.  She has had more than one avatar, using each one to improve on the previous, but this one is the oldest and most representative of herself in SL.  Throughout her whole SL odyssey, Caralyne has been fascinated with SL modeling, ranging from being a SL model to a SL blog fashionista, but always the runway draws her back.

In April 2012, she realized one of her dreams of being a model at her long-time favorite, niche boutique:  LoveCats.  She was a store model and an assistant manager.  LoveCats was her first model dream because live models are on display almost 24/7.  They greet customers as they enter, while showing new and featured styles.

Her second model dream has been walking the runway in styled outfits either by a designer or combined by herself using her own imagination.  Over the years in SL, she became familiar with CWS and had friends who attended UCWS.  Exposure to SL modeling and various academies made it very clear that CWS is the best modeling program in SL.  When her wonderful friend Sweetyuna Wendel encouraged her to get her model certification at CWS, she didn't hesitate.  With Anrol's help, she entered the International Model contest, re-enrolled at UCWS during October 2012, and participated in and won some recent daily stylings.

For Caralyne, there is no better way to spend time in SL then enjoying fashion in some way and especially on the runway or store stand.  But none of this would have been possible or occurred without the help of awesome friends, teachers, and mentors.  She thanks Anrol and Steve for making it possible by creating CWS and all her teachers for helping her during and after class.  She loves each and everyone.  And most of all she would like to thank her friend, Yuna, for encouraging and believing in her.

Midterms:
Wednesday night was a long night as I rushed to finish all assignments required to be done before the midterms.  I turned in the quiz notecard to Lisana and finished my blog about noon slt on Thursday.  The item Anrol sent was a hat that turned out to be a Gaga hat that I finally tried on about a two hours before styling.  I wasn't the only one who waited to mess with it until close to midterms times, because Nyx IMed me with some questions about it.  We figured it out between the two of us.  Since it was so cute, I edited it as required, fitting it to my head and then incorporated it into my Gaga outfit and matched my shoes to it.  It was adorable!  Luckily, the hat was not mod, but had a resize script; so all we had to do was size it with the script and then move it around on our head until it fit nicely without showing hair.

I left work about an hour early or three hours before midterms.  There were two times alloted for midterms because some of the student work in RL and wouldn't have been able to make the 1 pm slt slot.  I am so glad they worked with us, because it would have been terrible to have failed the class just because we couldn't make the one and only time for midterms because of RL.

When I got home and logged in, I quickly put my styling poses together using pose sequences from previous routines.  That really saved me some time. (I think I am going to create pose styling hud with all my runway poses that shows all the pose sequences I have created.)  Because poses always take me so much time and I had to edit the midterm prim (Gaga hat) we had been given, I didn't write my styling description until about 10 minutes before midterms.  I arrived to UCWS styling backstage with two minutes to spare and I wasn't the last one to arrive.  Out of five students, four of us were at the 5 pm slt slot: Annabree, Janet, Nyx, and myself.  Lizzy must have done the 1 pm midterms.

Tiffani arrived right at 5 pm slt and said she would be the only onetesting us.  Laylah had already told us she could not be involved in midterms review because she would be doing our finals as Dean of Students.  Tiff gave us our styling order and told us what to do, which was to go out when called on dvc, do our styling formation, post our description, and then wait off to the side like the real daily styling.  She reminded us it was not a competition and winners would not be awarded.  She said we should watch each other and learn.  After we were done with styling, we would move to Beach and Dome runways and show her the formations.

And so midterms began...

Midterms Gaga Style:
Ok, putting a Gaga outfit together was not easy, lol.  I have a ton of Gaga style outfits in my inventory, especially from Ash's Trash and DIRAM.  These designers specialize in pop star fashion.  In the end, I did not choose either of those designers, even though they are awesome.  Instead, I chose a cute, "new" outfit designed by Pure Poison.  The lace and the bow on the behind caught my eye.  When I added the colorful hat given to us by Anrol for testing prim editing, I was thrilled because to me it really evoked the randomness of Gaga.  Blackburns was the designer of choice for my Gaga shoes.  Not only do I know him, but he sells his quality shoes at a great price and makes them all mod.  They are tintable if nothing else and often come with a color hud to make it easier.  So I tinted my Gaga platform heels to match the hat and I sighed in pleasure.  Yes!  I had found it.  Even Chevia said it was amazing.  Yay!  Well, not everyone will think the same, but at least you can decide for yourself:

Midterms Gaga Description:
Hello & Welcome to today's Lady Gaga styling for UCWS midterms.  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, Simply The Best.

Lady Gaga burst onto the music scene at about the same time as Katy Perry back in 2008.  They both took the world by storm.  Whereas Katy is more sweet and innocent, Lady Gaga is anything but.  Gaga writes her own music, choreographs her own dances, and designs her own costumes.  Her designs are considered high fashion and can be bizarre, especially the meat dress she wore to an award ceremony a few years ago.  One thing about Gaga is she WILL be different.  I adore that because I am an Aquarius and Aquarius' love being different.

I hope you are enjoying my version of Lady Gaga, which represents the traditional black and lace she favors as well as the unique platform boots and hat.  Don't forget the bow on the back.  It's a simple but lavish design.  Exotic and feminine.  Gaga does not usually wear black only in her costumes, but adds a splash of color or silver.  I have used the colors of the hat to match the shoes.  The outfit pops and grabs attention just like Gaga does wherever she goes.

Midterms Beach:
So after Gaga styling, which was as fun as real styling but without the added pressure of winner judging, we were off to the UCWS Beach runway.  I had been last for styling and so for this, Tiff had me go first, leading the beach parade.  We all looked super hot and *haute* in our bikinis.  The formation came off without a problem and she didn't require us to do the beach bio.  I was ready to do it but have to be careful because I stilll need to fix the pose notecard from July 2012.

I apologize for not having more student images.  I am usually so focused on class and what we are doing that taking screen shots doesn't even enter my mind.  It didn't this time either.  And if it did, I likely wouldn't act on it either because of the set-up in graphics for good screen shots.  I guess I don't take candids.  I usually go back and take a few posed shots wherever the action was occuring with the outfit I was wearing.  Not as exciting, but at least it gives the flavor.

Here is my October beach outfit, which provides a connection to SassyLassye as this is the bikini she wore for the UCWS Beach runway.  This bikini or any of this designer's outfits are no longer available in SL.  I had contacted the desigenr for 6 months before I finally got a response and she sold me her collection.  I am not going to put the style notes in because she is not creating or selling her designs in SL anymore.

Midterms Dome:
Next was Dome.  By this time, we were all in formation mode and paying close attention.  When Tiff gave us our line-up assignements so that all four of us would have a chance on each runway, we didn't dilly dally.  The only thing that caught me up was when we switched after the first walk and I was on #3 aftter being on #1.  For some reason, I was waiting for invite from wrong student even though I accepted the correct invite.  I was late getting to runway #3 but only barely.  I caught up and we made it to the bottom.  Always confusion and counting problems, so that we were late when we got to stop 2 and runway #2 student was already done.  Oh well... these things would become apparent in real fashion shows and I certainly was not perfect by any means.  We were asked to style casual for the Dome formation and here is what I wore.  My style notes follow.

Yay! We finished and Tiffani said we had done a great job.  She told us we were free to go as our midterms were over.  Laylah would be contacting us with our grades and to please let any of them (trainers) know if we had questions.  We all thanked her, sighed hugely, and disappeared to get some rest.  On Friday, I received my grades from Laylah.  Yay!  I passed!  :))

October 24, 2012

Class Notes:
No lecture, no practice, just a question and answer session for our midterms. Shortly before class, I received my quiz notecard from Lisana and was working on completing it.  I had never had to do a quiz like this before at my previous UCWS sessions and for some reason it reminded me of another quiz I had seen in the previous month or two.  There was one question that I didn't remember discussing at UCWS and had no notes for it.  Before I could remember where I seen these questions before, it was class time.

Since it was a midterms review class, I decided to ask Laylah for some help.  I knew she would know.  Sure enough, she directed me/us to the right answer.  Nyx and Janet had a few questions too, so it was a great review session.  Well worth the time!  So glad I went because I had thought about not going since I had so much to accomplish before midterms the next day.

Before we finished, Laylah passed out our final midterm instructions and Anrol sent her midterms notecard too.  I was feeling a little overwhelmed because there was more to do this midterms then I had previously experienced.  But, I just calmed myself and made a list of what needed to be done first.

I finished the quiz card and returned it to Lisana.  Then, I updated my bios and took my grad pictures and sent those to Laylah and Anrol.  Finally, before passing out for the night, I worked on finishing and publishing the requierd blog entries.  Didn't quite get those all done before I had to relog to clear my cache because of missing inventory.  I passed out while waiting for it to complete.  I must have been tired, lol.  Luckily, I only slept a few hours, woke early, and finished the blog by noon slt on Thursday.

Class Outfit:
So, I was doing a bit of shopping before class because I was still selecting my Gaga outfit.  I had a notecard from Bliss Couture about their limited edition Halloween apparel and fell in love with the lace hotpants outfit in bloody red.  Yes, red... lol.  Had to have it and teamed it with the SLink mesh boots I love, and almost have every color, and said "bah" to accessories.  The outfit is so lavish that accessories seemed overkill.  Here it is.

Styling "Thanksgiving"

October 20, 2012

Today was a big styling day!  No fashion show for the special holiday styling for Thanksgiving (Turkey day)!  Big prize money too with 2500L to 1st, 1500 to 2nd, and 1000L to 3rd.  We had to fill out an application to participate.  It was a lot of fun even though I didn't win.  The poses and props got me... more, always more time for pose prep!  Congrats to the winners!

My Thanksgiving Style

My Thanksgiving Description
Hello & Welcome to today's CWS monthly styling event based on Thanksgiving.  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, SImply The Best..  Today I am a simple native american girl named White Feather, here to tell you about the harvest feast at Plymouth Plantation.  Squanto wrote this for me because I speak some English but do not write it.

Although I am female, I hunt for our tribe.  I would not be allowed to do this or even know how, except that my father is the tribal chief.  He allowed it and he taught me. I am very good.  Squanto has been living with our tribe for several years now since he returned from the strange land across the big water.  He has taught me English but it is hard to learn.

A year ago, a large vessel arrived on a nearby beach.  A group of hungry, pale people came ashore.  Squanto understood them and he told us they were "pilgrims" from the strange land.  It was lucky Squanto was here or we might have killed them because they were so weak and starved.  But Squanto advised kindness and charity, so we helped them through the long winter.  We shared our food and taught them to build simple shelters.  They survived the cold winter.

In the spring, although still not as strong as they should be, they built shelters from tree logs and brook the ground up with the metal tools they brought with them.  They names their living place, "Plymouth Plantation."  They planted seeds and Squanto showed them how to grown maize.  They called it corn.  All summer long, they tended to their "fields".  Some learned to use a bow and arrow to hunt game.  They are not as good as me.  I often bring them game from the forest.  They also have sticks that explode and bring death to an animal or bird from a great distance.  Throughout this year, my tribe and the pilgrims have celebrated together, thanking the Great Spirit for the bounty and protection provided.  We dance for them around the fires at night.  We sing on Sundays.

Its fall again and soon winter will be upon us.  The pilgrims brought in the final harvest the past week and we are having a feast of all the great food we have been blessed with this year.  The tribe has been invited and I am on my way with these turkeys.  Turkey is best in the fall and it will taste wonderful roasted over the fire.  I can't wait for the celebration to begin, we will dance and sing, but most of all give thanks to the Great Spirit for allowing our two peoples to thrive together this past year.

Thank you to everyone for for coming to the show and many thanks to our judge, announcer, and most of all to Anrol & Steve who make it possible for us to share our styling creativity in this wonderful venue.  When you have a moment and enjoy reading about SL fashion, please check out my blog at http://caralynemelody.blogspot.com/.

Styling "Cops & Robbers"

October 19, 2012

LOL!  Cops & Robbers... all I could think of 1930's Chicago gangsters.  Prolly influenced by the movie Chicago with Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger.  I love the guns!  And I couldn't believe when I found smooth gun poses.  Thanks to PoSeSions and Frozen!

My Gangsta Styling

My Gangsta Description
Hello & Welcome to today's Cops & Robbers styling show.  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, Simply The Best. Please let me entertain you...

"Are you ready?" she asked her gal pal.  Moll nodded a firm yes and waved her tommy gun in the air.  Cara smiled evilly in return and hefted her twin Uzi handguns firmly in her hands.  She turned and eyed the club with its sparkling neon lights in the dark night.  He was in there somewhere.  Toeless Joe had finked on him and he didn't even know it yet.  Who did he think he was?  Hadn't she kept him from being sent to the joint?  Sacrifices had been made to keep him from rotting in jail hell.  And he wasn't even grateful.  She would show him who was boss.  Did he think she wouldn't find out?  The dumb bimbo blonde he had recently begun seeing didn't have a brain, let alone two pennies to rub together.  Her mind could not believe he had shacked up with the trashy twit.  There was no comparison! Cara scintilated like a diamond with her quick mind, mob connections, stellar beauty, and vaults of cash.  Who else could put a job together as quickly as Cara and pull it off without anyone even knowing the money was gone until long after her crew were no where to be found.  Good thing he wasn't the love of her life or she would be missing him tomorrow when his double crossing heart was no longer beating.

"Let's go!" she ordered as she walked confidently toward the club door.  Cara was a sight to behold.  She was dressed in a creation she had combined together from different pieces of her favorite designer.  She loved looking like a 1930's mob boss in femine form but sexily updated for the new millenium.  Besides, fedoras were back in style and she looked fantastic.  Moll was close behind her with the rest of the lady crew.  They were all tough as nails and didn't hesitate to help each other out, whether it was nabbing the lastest shipment of jewels at Tiffany's or rubbing out a two-timing boyfriend.  They had each other's backs, which is why they worked so well together.  The Feds still hadn't figured them out and they wouldn't tonight either.

The doorman guffawed quietly as they approached, thrilled at the sight of such feminine power and danger.  He felt only slighty sorry for whoever was going to get it inside.  He opened the door for Cara as she approached, allowing her crew to enter without a question. He wasn't stupid.  They walked through the dark hallway into the smoky, barely lit main room.  She raised her guns, pulled the triggers, and machine gun fire began ricocheting around the room. Her gal pals followed her lead and let go with their own guns. Patrons and staff began slumping to the floor as they were dancing or over the tables where they were dining.  So sad, too bad.... they should know better than to hang out at such a dangerous place!  A beautifully evil smile was fixed on her face as her gaze found her target and she swung the Uzis toward him.  He looked up and recognized her and what was happening in the moment before his head exploded, lolling over to rest on his girlfriend's shoulder, a burst of blood and flesh on the wall behind him.  The blonde bimbo was screaming and then her head fell back against the booth from the force of a bullet to her brain.  Right between the eyes!  Cara smiled in satisfaction while her guns continued to blaze....

"CUT!! Great take, Carla!  Let's do it once more... "  The film director was standing at her side with his microphone.  "OK everyone!  Change clothes and let's do it one more time!"  Around the room, bodies laying on the floor and over the tables rose from the dead and hurried off.  A moment ago it had seemed so real and now she laughed at magic of cinematic noir.  Her character, Cara, was by far the most interesting part she had played.  Carla could feel it was going to be a great film!  Her smile changed from pure evil to sweet happiness as she walked off toward her trailer.  She knew she would win an oscar if she kept the action going at the current level.  But for now, she had at least a half hour before she would have to do it all again.  What a life! She sighed happily.

Styling "Fairy Tale"

October 16, 2012

I was a bit confused when I read the event schedule.  It appeared that two consecutive Tuesdays were the same theme "Fairy"... until I read closer and realized that today added the word "Tale".  OOOOhhhh!

I love red, in case anyone hasn't figured that out yet.  So the obvious choice of Fairy Tale was "Little Red Riding Hood"  and I knew just where to get the costume.  But oh heavens!  Poses when you have a prop!  But I didn't do too bad and I was saved because the corset of the outfit is not prim but mesh!
Yay for mesh because it moves with you and doesn't create weird looks for poses.

My Fairy Tale Styling

My Fairy Tale Description
Hello & Welcome to this evening's Fairy Tale styling.  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, SImply The Best..  When you have a moment and enjoy reading about SL fashion, please check out my blog at http://caralynemelody.blogspot.com/.

I am on my way to see my sick grandmother.  Momma gave me this basket of goodies to take to her.  She also gave me this beautiful new red hooded cape to wear.  She made it just for me.  I love it so much and I know Granny will love it too.  We both like red.

While I was skipping along the path to Granny's house, a wolf came up behind me and I jumped and screamed.  He said "Be Quiet" in a deep voice as he looked around to see if anyone was watching.  A lumberjack was off in the distance chopping trees for firewood.  I was afraid so I tried very hard to be quiet as the wolf said.  I did not want to be eaten.  But he just smiled, showing his big teeth and asked me where I was going.  I said "to visit my sick granny" and he told me I should pick some flowers to take her.  What a good idea!  So as soon as I find some flowers, I will pick some.  But that wolf was so strange!  He had such big eyes and big teeth and his voice was so deep.  He was scary!  I hope I don't see him again.

The story of Little Red Riding Hood is a Grimm's fairy that has changed over the years.  The original story has the wolf eating the grandmother and Red while more modern versions have hiding the grandmother in the closet.  In either version, the lumberjack comes to the rescue.  The moral of this story is to be careful speaking to strangers and show the contrast between the forest and the village.  It is a favorite story of mine because red has been my favorite color since I was a child.

Thank you to everyone for coming to the show and many thanks to our judge, announcer, and most of all to Anrol & Steve who make it possible for us to share our styling creativity in this wonderful and beautiful venue.

UCWS Tue Oct 16

October 16, 2012

Class Notes:
Since Debbie left CWS, there is only one class now on most days and Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays are now one hour earlier.  This makes it a bit difficult to attend because I am actually still at work in RL.  I do log in and go if I am in my office, but it means I have to stay later to make up the time.  Today, I am planning to style but I am behind in getting poses and my description done, per usual.  So, after receiving permission and while Vicky was teaching about writing styling show descriptions, creating pose sequences for styling events, developing pose notecards for Huddles, and editing hair and jewelry, I was standing in class and creating my pose sequences.  LOL!  I sorta paid attention and sorta not, but this was not the first time I had the class.  I would really rather not miss class if I can help it.  So I was there.  :))

Class Outfit:
I absolutely adore this cute 'lil dress.  I found it at the Vanity Fair in August.  I love it for its simplicity and yet edgy fashion.  I don't think I realized how nice gray and pink go together (well, maybe I do if I think back to the 80s).  One of the nicer mesh pieces in my inventory.  I wear this one over and over.

Styling "Pimps & Hos"

October 15, 2012

So today's styling theme is Pimps & Hos, lol.  Well, when I first thought about it, I was thinking about a traditional streetwalker style... until Julia Roberts face popped in my head as Vivian Ward from the movie, Pretty Woman.  Well that decided that!

Now, surely somewhere in all of SL I would be able to find the outfit Vivian wore at the beginning of the movie?  And yes, someone did make it and even updated it for me.  Thanks to Brelle Dufaux of Haute & Bothered!

At styling, there were only four of us.  LOL!  The judge awarded us all placement.  YAY!

My Hos Styling

My Hos Description
Hello & Welcome to this evening's styling theme for "pimps and hos".  I am Caralyne Melody, an aspiring model at CWS, Simply The Best.  When you have a moment and enjoy reading about SL fashion, please check out my blog at http://caralynemelody.blogspot.com/.

I am sure you are seeing many different ideas of "pimps and hos" this evening, from street walker to hooker to call girl to crack ho.  But for me, and I am betting for many of you too, Vivian Ward, played by Julia Roberts, in the movie "Pretty Woman" is the most memorable and fortunate "ho" of all time.  Even though we know reality is far different, we all fell in love with Vivian because Julia played her character supremely.  Vivian was just learning to be a "ho" because her friend Kit was showing her how to strut her stuff.  We find out later that Vivian had aspirations of a college education and was "turning tricks" to earn college tuition. Besides, when we first seen her on the street corner, she looked more like she was playing at it than doing it.

The outfit I am wearing is a replica of the one Vivian was wearing when she was standing on the street corner with her friend, Kit. Look at it!  Although it's edgy and has sex appeal, it is more of a fashion statement than a tribute to sex.  So when Edward Lewis, played by Richard Gere, drove by in his borrowed Italian sports car, Vivian caught his eye.  (Just like any good model!)  Edward knew quality when he seen it, being a corporate raider, wealthy, and used to recognizing the best.  So for him, Vivian was out of place on that street corner and I like to believe (and possibly you do, too) that he picked her up because she looked like the NY models he was used to taking home at night.

Even though Edward paid her to have sex with him (like any good "ho" deserves), the story also had the most magical twist.  It was a modern fairy tale in the spirit of Cinderella, except Cinderella was not so pure.  For all its lewd back story, the movie, Pretty Woman, has become the highest grossing and most popular romantic comedy of all time.  It catapulted Julia Roberts into movie star heaven and the rest is history.  If I have a chance to watch it, I usually don't miss it.  Because Pretty Woman gives us all hope, due to its modern refurbishing, that a "ho" can become a "princess".   Like the man said, "Welcome to Hollywood!  What's your dream?  Everybody comes here; this is Hollywood, land of dreams.  Some dreams come true, some don't; but keep on dreamin' - this is Hollywood.  Always time to dream, so keep on dreamin'. "  We all knew the "ho" was princess when we saw her standing on on a Hollywood street corner in this fashion statement, didn't we?

Thank you to everyone for coming to the show and many thanks to our judge, announcer, and most of all to Anrol & Steve who make it possible for us to share our styling creativity in this wonderful and beautiful venue.

UCWS Sun Oct 14

October 14, 2012

Class Notes:
Ok, so today was the big CWS Ms Universe pageant and performing as the intermission entertainment.  The pageant ran long and there was only one class at 6 pm slt.  So, those of us at the pageant (Nyx, Janet and I) hung around to get photos of the winners and possibly shots during the competition.  Laylah had to leave the pageant to instruct the other students not at the pageant, allowing the rest of us to stay.  Later, when I did make it to class, they were already done.  So, I asked what I had missed and Laylah said not to worry, because it was Dome practice mainly.  She was confident I knew how to be fierce on the runway with pose sequences.  Wow!  What a unexpected compliment!  Laylah is so awesome and its fun to style and pose to the level she expects from me.

Class Outfit:
It's a MEB! You gotta feel special and I do! Love the offsetting colors, the splash of lipstick red against the warm neutral cream and brown pattern.  It's such an interesting, eye-catching fit and hard to pair shoes with it.  LOL!  That's the only thing about MEB... she does the whole outfit, including shoes... but sorry to say, her shoes... in the kindest way... lack panache.  I have so many shoes in my inventory that buying another pair was just not appealing for once.  Since I put the Alienbear white pearl set with the outfit, I knew I could prolly pull off white shoes even though the skirt was cream.  Yeah, so I pulled out my favoite, cute ankle boots and wore them!  After all, I thought I was going to be practicing Dome formation later.  Not!  LOL!  :))

Class Tour:
Today's UCWS tour features the student Beach stage from the audience perspective.  The real CWS Beach runway is used mainly for summer and beach fashions.  It has its own unique formation with each model following the other and performing the same poses at each stop.  When there are two models in the center, they turn their cameras toward themselves so they can watch the other model and sync poses.  It looks awesome for the audience.  It's a fun formation and easiest to learn.  Its the first fashion show formation learned in the UCWS curriculum and is a quick efficient way to learn timing (pose counting) and syncing with other models.

CWS "Ms Universe" Pageant Finale

October 14, 2012

DebbieDoo Tigerfish recently left CWS.  Not only was she the COO, she was responsible for coordinating intermission entertainment for pageants.  Yesteday, MsChevia Johansson (my good friend) put out a call to all new CWS model grads and current UCWS students after Anrol asked her to coordinate the intermission entertainment at today's CWS Ms Universe pageant.  Here's the notecard she sent:
**********************************
Dear Recent CWS Graduates,

It is somewhat of a tradition at CWS that one of the first experiences you have in a large pageant is as the entertainment during the intermissions (there are two).  As you may know, Sunday is the final for the Ms Universe Pageant.  I have been asked by Anrol to gather some volunteers for these shows. I've participated in two of them and I can tell you it is a complete blast.

So, what do I need from you?

Well, it's simple, you will have to purchase at couple of things and  commit to being there for the show on Sunday.

Here's the woman's outfit for the first dance.  The theme of the first dance is masquerade:

Gown:  https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Lizas-Vivian-Golden-Gown/3433257

Mask:  https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/KK-Carnival-mask-Gold/3035748

Total cost is $200L

You will have to supply appropriate hair, makeup & shoes.

Guys, if you participate you'll need tuxes and nice masks.

The theme of the second dance is Universe, so here is what I want you to do to make this simple.  I want you to wear your prettiest formal and style it as beautifully as you can.  No Masks We will all be different, but the song that we will be dancing to is So Amazing by Boyz II Men.  Listen to it and style appropriately.

Here is what I am wearing for this number as an example:

NOTE: That is ONLY an example, don't everyone look alike ok?  Just... be You.  Be the wonderful exciting women you are, be amazing, and let's ROCK IT Ladies!

Thank you all so much!

xxoo

Here is the first intermission outfit. I don't usually choose yellow, but this gown is just lovely.  Combined with the mask gives it a mysterious elegant look.  Liza fashions are wonderful and I used to have a quite a few until I lost 10K inventory.  So, I was happy to add this piece of perfection to my wardrobe.

Chevia did a fantastic job with organizing our little entertainment group of six.  We practiced in the morning, so that when we arrived a half hour before the pageant began, we knew what we were doing.  We remained backstage through second intermission, which worked well.  Although we had to swing our cameras out to the audience to watch the participants.  The lag didnt work well for taking pictures from that position, so I decided to just grab winner pictures at the end.  Although my pics were not good and I ended up going with the pageant picture posted to the group.

The dancing was awesome and the lag wasnt too bad when we actually walked out on stage.  We received a lot of applause and were generally enjoyed.  It was fun and I loved doing it.  Kudos to MsChevia !!  :))
